Engineering and Mining Experiment Station (EMES)

The Engineering and Mining Experiment Station (EMES) provides a centralized multi-user instrumentation facility for the characterization and testing of minerals, ores, raw materials, manufactured products, waters, and biological materials to support research and academic programs at 国产福利.

Additionally, the EMES provides analytical services for outside government, industry, and academic organizations. The EMES is the longest-running core research facility at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and has provided analytical services to the public and private sectors for over a century. Founded by the South Dakota Legislature in 1903, the EMES was originally developed to assist the regional mining industry in the analysis and characterization of ores and other mineral products.
